Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage

FAQ

If there is a choice, most moving companies suggest you select a time other than summer, the end of the month, or the end of the year holidays. During these periods, the heaviest demands are placed on vans, trucks, equipment, and personnel. However, you should move when it is most convenient for you.

The earlier you call, the better. The more lead time you can give, the more likely we will be able to meet your preferred pick-up and delivery schedule and be ready to address all your moving needs.

Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage will conduct a pre-move survey of your household goods to be transported. A pre-move survey is needed to determine the approximate cost of a move and the amount of van space your goods will occupy. We will compute the approximate cost and give you a written Estimate/Order for Service. There is usually no charge for the estimate, and your relocation consultant will gladly review the binding estimate, ensuring the client’s understanding of all costs and services included.

A binding estimate guarantees, in writing, the precise cost of the move based on the services requested or deemed necessary at the time of the estimate. If additional services are requested or required at the origin or destination (such as adding items, additional packing, or shuttle service to a location to which a full-size van cannot access), an additional price will apply for these specific services. An addendum specifying these additional services and their costs will be prepared.

This is the list of rules, regulations, available services, and resulting charges used by all motor carriers providing interstate transportation of household goods and by the Public Utilities Commission. The tariffs are published by each household goods motor carrier and include its various services. The tariffs are available for your inspection upon request.

The term packaging refers to small objects and loose items. It does not mean to include furniture. The level of packing one should do depends entirely on the amount of time, money, and energy one may want to spend. You can leave the entire packing to us, pack partially, or pack everything by yourself. Most customers prefer the movers to pack all artwork, lamps, electronics, breakables, and delicate objects. When you receive an estimate from our relocation consultant, do not forget to describe all the items that need special care.

Lightweight clothing such as sweaters, shirts, blouses, and lingerie may be left in the drawers. Do not fill drawers with heavy items such as books, table linens, or sheets, which can damage the piece of furniture during transit. Be careful NOT to leave fragile items like money, jewelry, watches, or other valuables in the drawers, as well as anything that might spill or leak. Large dressers coming from or going to a second floor must be empty.

You may if you wish to save some time, but you don't have to. In fact, most clients leave all dismantling and reassembling work for the movers. The movers will reassemble all the furniture that was dismantled. When you receive an estimate from our relocation consultant, do not forget to describe all the furniture that needs special care.

Mid-Atlantic Moving and Storage provides full protection for all furniture. All furniture will be fully wrapped with heavy-duty moving pads. The movers will crate glass, marble, and delicate surfaces with cardboard or wooden boxes. When you receive an estimate from our relocation consultant, do not forget to describe all the furniture that needs special care.

Yes, but the customer should work with their relocation consultant to determine the type and level of protection needed for the move. Our relocation consultant will explain all the protection options and rates in detail. If you have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, inquire about "in-transit" coverage with your insurance agent.
